A gastroenterologist from Ballybrindie, Northern Ireland, says that a number of drugs were linked to heartburn. The findings show that a small group of people were taking drugs to prevent heartburn in the last 30 days. The risk of heartburn and other symptoms, like coughing, nausea, and heartburn, was found to be much higher in the group of people who used drugs to treat heartburn. A study in the British Medical Journal suggests that drugs may be associated with the same risk of heartburn that is found in the U. S.
The study, which involved 568 people, found that the majority of people taking the drugs had heartburn symptoms. Some of the drugs were used to treat stomach ulcers, including Pepcid, Nexium, and Pepcid-P, the heartburn medication used to treat ulcers in the past.
The authors of the study say that the study “has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and should not be relied upon as a substitute for proper medical advice.”
The report says that the study was funded by GlaxoSmithKline, a drug company in Britain that markets Nexium. The study was conducted by British Heartburn Society.
The British Medical Journal, in its first full review, found the study was an “important first step” in developing a treatment for patients with heartburn who had been taking drugs to treat the condition. The British Heartburn Society was the first national medical research centre to conduct a randomised placebo-controlled trial to test the use of acid-suppressing drugs in patients with heartburn.
Researchers looked at all the studies involving patients who had been taking drugs to treat heartburn and found that the drugs were most effective in reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. The drugs also were more effective at reducing the frequency of stomach ulcers, or heartburn symptoms, than any other group of drugs.
Professor Simon Bailey, a spokesman for GlaxoSmithKline, said: “We have been able to use these drugs in our patients for many years without serious side effects. This is one of the first medicines that has been used for heartburn in the UK.”
He added: “We continue to be looking for new drugs for heartburn that may work for some people. But the only other drug that has been shown to be effective is Nexium. Nexium has a better safety profile compared to other NSAIDs. But it is not a drug that could be used to treat heartburn.”

Professor Bailey said: “These studies are not designed to determine whether certain drugs will have similar efficacy or how long they work. They do not tell you how many people will have heartburn, whether they will have ulcers, whether they will have a reaction to the drugs or whether they will be affected by the drugs. This is the first study to show that there is a very good chance of the drug getting better in the short term.”
Professor Bailey said: “This study does not identify any drug that is associated with increased risks of heartburn in patients taking the drugs. This is a very important first step in developing a treatment for patients with heartburn.
